It’s that time of year when everyone starts to scramble. Holidays are around the corner and the deep meaning behind them can be glazed over by well intentions with no follow through. I’ve had multiple conversations with different people all centered around Advent and Christmas. Through these group texts or table conversations I heard about some new to me resources that I thought I’d share with some others that we have.
If you have something to share that is not on this list, please share in the comments! I’d love to update with a great list for all of us.
An interactive and simple way to look forward to celebrate the birth of Jesus!
I just heard of this! What a cute way to countdown to Christmas and involve young kids (think of elf on the shelf replaced with the Christmas star.)
My friend Jessica writes at Gather & Grow, and helped to create these with a graphic designer. We printed these out and laminated them to go in our burlap calendar that has pockets. I think this year we will put them on twine instead.
From She Reads Truth, there is a Story and Scripture book for children. There are also Advent books for both men and women. We have both books from two years ago in our home.
Focus on the Family’s Free Download A Countdown to Christmas
This looks really cheesy, I know, but our 10, 8 and 5 year old even asked to watch it this summer. This month they have continued to remind me of the true meaning of Christmas, where the word Christmas comes from, and who Saint Nicholas was.
We have been learning a lot as a family from Paul David Tripp. I just heard of this book, and now I’m hoping to find it at the thrift or on sale!
