Praising God (With the Excitement of Buddy The Elf)
“Mom! Come here! Look at this fork! It is so cool!” exclaims my 5 year old while eating dinner.
“Ummm… okay.”
“Mom, Jesus made this fork! Seriously, that’s weird. I mean Jesus made the people that made the fork. Mom, it’s just so crazy!”
The awe and wonder of our 5 year old has shaken us this season. Everything she sees and touches she declares how glorious, amazing, or mind-boggling it is. Joining the wondrous forks are squirrels, phones, eyes, hands, words, snow, and numerous more. Her excitement rivals that of Buddy the Elf.
It is contagious.
The older two kids are marveling at creation and inventions around us as well.
And now…
I am too.
I pray that as life passes by so quickly, and the world takes for granted the site of mountains or the running water directly to our homes, that you and I have this sense of awe and wonder.
One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall declare your mighty acts.
On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.Psalm 145:4,5 ESV
You may have seen this video running around the internet. It is hilariously our home recently, and I am grateful for it.
I find myself retelling this video, and the awe my kids are showing to those around me. I was sharing this in the aisle of the grocery store this week. If you know me, I can get pretty animated with stories myself, (especially if with good friends), and at the end noticed a few people listening. Staring really. God can be praised in the cracker aisle, He can and should be praised everywhere by those of us that call Him Lord.
So, over the next few weeks, I want to show you how amazing God is, the awe and wonder we have when we look to our Creator, Savior, Shepherd. Even those three names in one sentence is incomprehensible and are reasons to praise God.
